Drinking hot drinks increases the risk of oesophageal cancer
Drinking hot drinks has been linked to a higher risk of developing oesophageal cancer. This has recently been confirmed by the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer).
Hot liquids potentially cause damage to the cells in the oesophagus, as a result of which these cells may ultimately transform into cancer cells.
You should therefore allow coffee and tea to cool down a little before you drink them.
